William Anthony Marquard Jr.
April 16, 1926 – October 22, 2016
Born in Pasadena, Calif., Bill squeezed plenty of living into his 90 laps around the sun. After serving in the Navy in World War II, he met Molly Flanagan at a college mixer, and the two were married in 1949. He attended night school via the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Southern California.
While Bill was rightly proud of his 35-year career in pharmaceutical sales and management with the A.H. Robins Company, his love affair with Molly was longer, richer, and far more abundant: 67 years of marriage; five children (Kathleen, Christine, Bill, Patricia, Michael); 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and countless memories.
Bill and Molly moved to Wilsonville in 1994, quickly weaving themselves into the fabric of the Charbonneau and St. Cyril Parish communities. Bill enjoyed few things more than spending quality time with family—and virtually everyone he met became family. So we hope you'll think of him the next time you savor a healthy martini or revel in an expansive, raucous gathering around a tasty home-cooked meal. Big Bill wouldn't have it any other way.
A funeral Mass and celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at St. Cyril Catholic Church in Wilsonville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul ministry at St. Cyril's Parish.
