Phillip "Phil" Moss, 86 passed away on July 27, 2025, in Wilsonville, Oregon. Born on February 4, 1939, in Prairie City, Oregon, Phil lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and deep affection for those around him.
In 1957, Phil joined the United State Air Force, beginning a chapter of service that reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. After his 8 years in the military, he embarked on a remarkable career behind the wheel- driving over two million miles along Highway 395 between Pendleton and John Day. This stretch of road became more than just a route; it was a testament to his endurance and work ethic.
Phil married the love of his life, Naomi Taylor, in 1980. Their union was a defining part of his life and brought him great joy. He was known as a big man with a big personality-someone whose presence filled every room he entered. His hugs were legendary among those who knew him; warm, enveloping gestures that conveyed love without words.
Outside of work and family life, Phile had a passion for RC airplanes. This hobby reflected both his technical curiosity and his playful spirit-a combination that endeared him to many.
Phil is survived by his sister Linda Laney; sons David Moss, Steve Taylor, and Keith Taylor; daughter Ronda Bryant, many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Dog Tony.
May his memory bring comfort to those who know him and love him. A Memorial Gathering will be held on October 17, 2025, at 3:00 at The Dalles Senior Center 1112 W 9th St.
