Obituary

Carol entered this world on April 19, 1946 in St Joseph Missouri as the last child born to Fordie and Eva (Ingram) White. She went to her heavenly home on March 20, 2026.

She spent her growing up years throughout Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and Arizona. She graduated in 1966 from Chandler High School in Arizona.

In 1968 after her daughter Ruth was born, she met and married Ernest Guy in St. Joe. They were married for a brief time. After their divorce, she met and married Sylvester Miller in 1969. Sylvester adopted Ruth and then they welcomed Hazel and Sylvester Jr. Carol’s family was now complete. The family then made the move from St. Joe to Savannah and settled into the country life on the outskirts of town.

Carol worked a few nurses aide/caretaker jobs when her children were teens. After Sylvester Sr. passed in 1992, she tried the fast food industry before finally settling in at north St. Joe Walmart.

In 2002 her grandson made his entrance and she sped to Kansas City to be there for his birth. After he was born, she made the move to Kansas City to be close by. At the nearby Walmart where she worked, she formed lasting friendships with Jan and Troy. She worked a few more years at Walmart before retiring and moving in with her daughter.

In 2013 the decision was made to move to Oregon. The move was hard for her and she voiced her opinion on the matter regularly to anyone who would listen. It took a few years, but she finally embraced West Coast living and started to enjoy herself even though she still longed to be in Missouri.

Being in Oregon meant she was in the same time zone as one of her brothers and she would regularly talk to him. A friend offered to drive her out to eastern Oregon to visit and a wonderful reunion took place.

Her grandson was always the brightest spot in her life and she talked of him always. She was very proud of his accomplishments.

She filled her days watching old movies, westerns and crime dramas on tv while doing her word search puzzles. On occasion she’d find a good book to enjoy.

Church was important to her and she would go most every Sunday if she had a ride, which she usually did.

She learned to understand football and shared that pastime with her friends Troy and Randy. She had a notebook that she would keep scores in for future reference.

Of course it was nothing for her to keep a pen and paper handy. That way if it was important to her she would write it down. And boy did she ever write things down!

She is preceded by her parents, her siblings (Louise, Jack, Kathleen, Kenneth, Eva and Virginia) and her son, Sylvester Jr.

She is survived by her aunt Marjorie, her daughter Ruth, her daughter Hazel, son-in-law Albert, grandson Jakob. There are also several nieces, nephews and cousins. While married to Sylvester she was a stepmom/grandma to many as well. She also leaves behind her good friends Randy, Troy and Jan as well as a curly headed blonde named Annie who visited her bringing lots of joy.

A service will be held at Valley Christian Church in Wilsonville, Oregon on April 18, 2026 at 2 pm. Plans are being made for burial in St Joseph, MO, with a service tentatively planned in June of this year.
