John Ryan, age 68 passed away on 15 December 2016 after a brief illness. John was born to Edith and Joe Ryan (both deceased) in Seattle, but spent most of his life in Portland. He was an alumni of Central Catholic and PSU and served in the Vietnam War. He viewed his time in Vietnam as a "life" experience. He married Jennifer Carter Ryan in 1993 enjoying 23 years of marriage. He loved music and was a drummer for several local bands and played music throughout his life. John had a curious mind and never stopped reading and learning. He also had a wonderful dry sense of humor lighting up the room wherever he went. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, extended family, and many friends, and will be deeply missed by all. Safe journeys Johnny-you will always be with us in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held for John at a later date. In memory of John listen to the Beatles,"I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends" and make a donation to the ASPCA or other charity that serves homeless and neglected pets.
