Gary was a resident of Eugene, Oregon and worked as a skilled carpenter at Custom Craftworks. He was described by those close to him at work as a detailed craftsman. Gary passed away at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart at RiverBend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon after suffering from a massive stroke and residual complications on 10/9/2022.
Gary was born 10/7/1955 in Cleveland, Ohio to his parents Dorothy (Mauser) and Frank Grassi Sr. He had 2 siblings that he preceded in death, Donna Loje, and Frank Grassi Jr. He was a lifetime blue-collar man. He built beautiful custom hardwood artifacts and a number of custom items for his grandchildren. He was a beloved father to Nick (34), and Cole (29). He also had 3 precious grandchildren: Harper (8), Brock (5), and Emersyn (1). He had no greater treasure than these in this world. He found ways to love both near and far with thoughtful gestures. Gary spent seasons of his life in both Ohio and Oregon in his 67 years. He was an avid outdoorsmen and spent time making longbows and shooting rifles. Gary had a love for the outdoors that brought him life in a way that other things couldn't. He was a selfless man that will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He will be buried in a beautiful outdoor site, as he desired for most days of his life. The funeral will be a graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery on Thursday (10/13) at noon. His two sons will be performing the ceremony together.
Cornwell Colonial Chapel will be providing all services pertaining to this ceremony.
