Forrest James "Jim" Hibbard, born on April 29, 1938, left this world on September 14, 2023, at the age of 85. He is reunited with his beloved wife, Carol Snedaker Hibbard, who preceded him in death twelve years earlier. Jim was also preceded in death by his infant son, Peter James, and sisters, Susan Laman and Lyda Kempner.
Jim played football at the University of Utah while he was obtaining a degree in pharmacy. As a pharmacist he brought care and compassion to his community throughout his career, which included working at the U of U Hospital for many years as Assistant Director of Pharmacy. Jim went on to receive a Masters in Nuclear Pharmacy at USC prior to relocation with Carol to Oregon. There, Jim started at OHSU Hospital Pharmacy and ultimately advanced to a director position with Kaiser Permanente where he taught and led other professionals before his retirement.
Beyond his work, Jim found great joy in running a dog agility club at his farm, which he fondly referred to as the Hibbard Pharm. His farm became a haven for family and friends, hosting the beloved biannual Pig Bake. This cherished event brought loved ones together, allowing them to reconnect and savor the delicious roasted pig that Jim masterfully cooked in the ground.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Phyllis Bingham, Margaret Yaeger, and Robert Hibbard, and his children, Christina H. Williams, John Eric "Rick" Hibbard, Heidi H. Gorishek, and Hilary H. McGaughey. His legacy of love extends to his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Henderson, Chase Gorishek, Easton Gorishek, Luke Hibbard, and Ashley McGaughey, and his great-granddaughter, Jordyn Henderson. He is also survived by Peggy Malloy, who brought immense joy and love into Jim's life over the past decade.
Jim's memory will be celebrated and cherished by all who knew him. His warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love for family, friends, and canine companions will forever be remembered.
A memorial service to honor Jim's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 4, 2023, at Community of Hope Lutheran Church, 27817 SW Stafford Road, Wilsonville, Oregon. After the service, there will be a celebration of life party, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (
