Elaine was born in Windsor, CO, to George and Mary Schmunk. She was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Portland when Elaine was six years old. She attended Sabin Elementary, and graduated in 1953 from Grant High School.

Elaine met her husband Bob at the Hollywood Branch of U.S. Bank where they both worked. They married in 1956 and have four children, Teresa Quinn (Dave), Steven Brunmeier, Cynthia Simonsen (Lyle), and Patrick Brunmeier (Kate). Their marriage lasted until Bob’s passing in 2018. The Brunmeier’s have seven grandchildren, Kelli Quinn (Duncan Howard-McGuire), Jessica Brunmeier, Lindsay Hehn (Kevin), Jamie Hinderlong (Jordan) , Jesse Simonsen (Brittany), Adam Brunmeier, and Drew Brunmeier. Great grandchildren include Kayden, Kaleb and London Hehn and Kenna Simonsen. Elaine was so proud of her family and loved spending time with them.

While living in Gresham, Elaine loved attending classes at Mt. Hood Community College. She acquired so many credits that she moved forward with a Bachelors Degree from Marylhurst University when she was in her 50’s. She was very social and had many friends, was involved in Bridge Club, Bible Study, Book Club, and Finance Club. She also loved to travel, especially to Black Butte, Sunriver, Palm Springs and Hawaii.

Upon moving to Charbonneau in 1993, Elaine got involved with golf and swimmercise. After Bob passed away, Elaine moved to Independent Living at Springridge. She loved having her own apartment, as she never had that opportunity as a young person. She lived in that apartment from 2019 until her death. Elaine was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Laverne Schmunk Spears, Elmer Schmunk, and Edward Schmunk.

A funeral service with be held at 11 a.m on November 10, 2026, at Wilsonville Funeral Home; 29222 SW Town Ctr Loop E, Wilsonville OR 97070. All are welcome.
