Edward Joseph McKinney passed away in his home in Wilsonville, Oregon, surrounded by his family, on January 11, 2020.
Ed was born Sept 8, 1948 in North Platt, Nebraska to Donald and Mary McKinney and moved with his family to Portland, arriving in Oregon on his fifth birthday. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1967 and then joined the United States Air Force. His twenty-one year Air Force career took him to Korea, Japan, and Germany. After retiring from the Air Force, Ed moved to Yakima, Washington before returning to the Portland area in 2000. In 2004, he competed in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in St Louis, winning a gold and two silver medals.
Edward is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Rose; his children, Laura and Edward Jr (Jenn), five grandchildren; Robert, Jason, Christopher, Felicia, and Brooke; and one great-granddaughter, Aubrey; and his five siblings; Kathey (Charlie) Rayner, Sue McKinney, Steve (Cindee) McKinney, Becky Hampton, and Ron (Cheryl) McKinney; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held from 10am - noon on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Cornwell Wilsonville Funeral Chapel at 29222 SW Town Center Loop in Wilsonville, Ore with a committal service at 2pm at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Boulevard, Portland, Ore.
