Daniel Edward Linehan, age 70, passed away 11/23/2024 after battling a disease for more than a year. Dan was born 11/29/1953 in Arlington, Massachusetts and was the son of Edward F. Linehan and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Linehan. He is survived by his sister Patricia Steele and his brother Francis Edward (Teddy) Linehan. Dan grew up in Arlington and maintained contact with ' the Arlington boys' throughout his life.
Dan played semi-pro hockey in his late teens and then moved into the restaurant business working his way from waiter to manager. He married Suzan Jan Morell in 1981 and became an owner/operator of Dunkin' Donuts franchises. In 1990 he opened a private investigation business and retired in 2017. In 2018 Dan and Sue moved to Oregon with their daughter, Cara and granddaughter, Rena. They bought a farm with their son, Daniel and his wife, Nikii. Dan spent his last years rounding up alpaca, sheep, ostrich, goats and more (often because he forgot to lock a gate!). He entertained the many visitors with his multitude of fun stories.
Dan and Suzan lived in Carver, Massachusetts for many years. They raised three children - Cara Patrice Rose, Lora Beth and Daniel John. Dan was very involved in the Carver community and enjoyed coaching many sports and actively participating in the church. Dan continued to assist coaching college tennis for daughter Cara.
Dan and Suzan enjoyed many years of boating in Plymouth Bay, skiing in Vermont,
cruising canals in Florida, and many wonderful trips to Hawaii where they discovered the treasures of the Pacific.
Dan was known and loved for his infectious personality, open arms, and twinkling blue eyes. He had a way of making anyone and everyone he met feel loved, special, and welcomed. He was a fabulous storyteller and would entertain even the most stoic listener. He was so proud of his family and would unabashedly brag about them anytime he could.
Dan is survived by his wife, Suzan, children, Cara Patrice and her husband Joshua Shambaugh, Lora Beth and her husband Ian Marshack, and Daniel John (DJ) and his wife Nichole Linehan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rena Beth, Jace Daniel, Zelia Jane, Drew Nicholas, Blue Finn and niece Ruby Ann who called him Papa.
Dan, aka Lenny, Danny, Dad, Papa will be missed by all who knew him and those who wished they had known him. His little six year old granddaughter said" I know you're up in heaven, but you've been there long enough. It's time to come home."
Rest in peace with all our love.
