Chuck Lawrence, 71, died Monday Dec. 11th at his home in West Linn, Oregon surrounded by his family after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Chuck was born on Sept. 5th 1946 in Portland, Oregon to Benjamin and Edna Lawrence. He was raised in Portland and attended Centennial High School. Soon after high school, Chuck joined the Navy and served for 8 years; a portion of which included the Vietnam War. Immediately following his time in the Navy, he received a job offer from IBM which moved him to Downey, California in 1973. There he met Lydia and they were married in 1979. Chuck and Lydia returned to Oregon in 1978. They eventually started a family raising their twin daughters Ashlee and Meghan in West Linn, Oregon.
Chuck was a great husband and loving father and grandfather as well as a beloved Uncle.
He loved a good joke, golfing, fixing things, and woodworking. Most of all he loved his family and spending days with his grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lydia Lawrence and his daughters, Ashlee (Mark) Minty and Meghan (John) Malmberg. Chuck has four grandchildren: Avery, Robbie, Caden, and Jace. As well as a niece, Terry Arnot of West Linn, Oregon and nephews, Ross Martin of Oregon City, Oregon and Shane Martin of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Chuck will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 19th at 10 am at Church of the Resurrection in Tualatin, Oregon. 21060 SW Stafford Road Tualatin, Oregon with a reception to follow. There will be a private burial at Willamette National Cemetery.
